We are proud to announce one of the most meaningful recognitions of this construction season. It belongs to a man who has given more than half a century to this industry.
Tom Dake Sr., co-founder of Superior Industrial Insulation, was recently presented with his 50-Year Service Pin from Heat and Frost Insulators Local 3 in Cleveland. He called the service award “a special honor to receive.”

His union relationship began as a signatory contractor, as he was committed to union labor from the day he founded Superior Insulation. Every one of Superior’s 20,000 projects has been completed with union labor, a standard Dake set at the outset, and has never wavered. The partnership with Local 3 was essential.
“I started with a passion to succeed, and it took the partnership with Local 3 to make the whole process successful,” he said.
When asked to describe his journey over five decades, Dake’s answer was characteristically direct.
“Slow, steady growth for the first 25 years — and a rocketship ride for the next 25,” he said.
Patient, principled early years laying the foundation for future growth is an accurate summary of how an industry-leading company has evolved over the past half-century.
What keeps him going today? The same thing that started it all. He remains motivated by the opportunity to improve the business and the lives he has touched, which makes every day worth living, he said.
Fifty years of commitment and 20,000 union projects, coupled with an enduring passion to build something that matters. Tom Dake Sr. is the foundation on which Superior Industrial Insulation was built, and this recognition is a reflection of exactly that. Congratulations, Tom.
