What is Firestopping?
Firestopping involves sealing openings and joints in walls, floors and ceilings to prevent the spread of fire, smoke and toxic gases. These openings are often created for the passage of pipes, ducts, cables or other mechanical and electrical systems.
Firestopping materials, such as fire-resistant sealants, mortars, wraps, or collars, are specifically designed and tested to restore the fire-resistance rating of the building element they penetrate.
