The history of Superior Insulation

Superior Industrial Insulation Company was founded on March 1, 1980, by Thomas Dake and Martin Delaney. In the beginning, the company specialized mainly in commercial insulation work.

Superior Industrial Insulation Company’s first big Industrial project was at the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company in 1982. The company remains at that location to this day.

In 1995, Martin Delaney retired and was succeeded by his son, Dan Delaney, who became the Vice President of Commercial Operations. In 2004, Kevin Delaney joined the office staff and became Vice President of Insulation Operations.

In 2006, Tom Dake II joined Superior Industrial Insulation Company to become the Vice President of the newly formed Fire and Life Safety Operations Division.

In 2011, Superior Insulation opened a branch office in Columbus, and newly hired Dick Reis became our Columbus Operations Manager.

In 2015, we opened our Toledo branch, which Scott Leonard currently manages.

Dan Delaney retired in 2018. That same year, Tom Dake II was named Vice President of Fire and Life Safety.

Six years later, Tom Dake II became President/CEO and Kevin Delaney was named Chief Operating Officer.

While leadership has been handed down from one generation to the next, what has never changed at Superior Industrial Insulation Company is our commitment to our employees and customers to complete every project safely and on time.
